![]() ![]() I own many of their first two season tables, and if you play long enough, it becomes obvious they took shortcuts. I'll start by saying Pinball Arcade's model is very obvious microtransactions. I'll present my more detailed opinion on things and hope I don't get downvoted.Įach of the "main three brands" seem to have a different element in mind, which are very obvious when you give the pinball games in question more then a passing look. The OP has commented a few times with comparisons against, mainly, Zen Pinball, but he seems far too biased to trust. i think 10 dollars per extra table is a reasonable minimum price for this remake, but full price for each is perfectly acceptable. and on psx at least, each was around 30 dollars. It should also be noted these tables were all sold separately back in the 90s as well. its like comparing need for speed with gran turismo. but while zen tries to take full advantage of the video game medium, pro pinball goes for pure simulation. i have every table on wii u, as well as most pc exclusive tables on steam. in pro pinball, the table emulates the type of pendulum used in real tables, meaning careful nudging can benefit you, and you dont necessarily get locked out after 3 nudges if you know what you are doing.įor a casual player, this is meaningless, but pinball enthusiasts will recognize this as a very important feature. most video pinball games give you 3 nudges. unlike a lot (if not all other) video pinball games, one major aspect of pro pinball is tilt emulation. the graphics in pro pinball are much greater in quality than that of zen, and the detail in physics are there to match. Personally, i dont think zen is comparable. im glad i dont have to wait until summer. figured only backers would get to play dev builds. This seemed to be a bit of a stealth release. i also have minor issues running my original discs on win 7, so keep that in mind. they have the other 3 as well, but it seems like there isnt a package deal. either free or cheap dlc (like pinball fx 2).Īnd if you dont like EA, but still want to play this awesome table, you can get the original on gog. I believe the idea is to include the other 3 tables in the future once timeshock! is done. also resolutions have to be downloaded separately (the graphics are pre rendered, just like the original, but have been completely redone from scratch), but obviously that will change over time. only real issues are some infrequent crashes, and a lack of an options menu (no in game way to remap controls, etc). seeing it remade to be full compatible with modern systems is great, and anyone who is a pinball fan should look into this.Įarly access wise, the actual table itself is fully functional and has all the new graphics (mobile version has been out for a few months). This is one of my favourite games from my childhood. ![]() Pro pinball ultra will feature new graphics, online leaderboards, and glass off mode (you can roll the ball around by dragging it with your mouse), among other minor features, like vertical support and dual monitor support (for virtual pinball cabinets) timeshock is the most popular of the 4 (and most memorable among fans), and is the first table available in this remake. there were four tables: timeshock!, the web, big race USA, and fantastic journey. For those who dont know, pro pinball is a series of pinball simulations released in the late 90s for PSX and PC. ![]()
